The Role @ Leamington
We have an amazing opportunity for a Lead Environment Artist to join our team at Sumo Leamington! You will be working on our latest IP - Stampede: Racing Royale.
We are looking for an artist comfortable working with stylized artwork and can be flexible with their approach. The ideal candidate will be adept at providing feedback loops, art workflow guides, supporting and mentoring a team of level Artists to produce AAA  Environment work.

We’re open to this person being based in-studio or operating fully remotely.

Within this role you will:

  • Work with the Lead Artist and Production to plan and prioritise Environment needs on the project
  • Guiding the Environment art team to produce high quality artwork and leading by example
  • Receive and provide critique in a professional and constructive manner
  • Uphold existing quality standards and seek workflow improvements
  • Provide task information and track their progress to completion
  • Collaborate with Design on their requirements, as well as other sub-discipline leads on the project
  • Play a part in developing the visual design of our game world
  • Mentoring, managing, and leading the Environment Art department
  • Maintain a healthy and creative team culture
  • We will need you to have:

  • Strong leadership and empathetic people management skills
  • A portfolio with recent examples of appropriate work in a range of styles, including world building
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven abilities in optimised Asset and World creation processes
  • Proficiency with industry standard modelling tools, such as 3DS Max and/or Maya
  • Proficiency with Substance Painter and Photoshop
  • Previous experience with industry standard asset tracking software and processes, such as Jira or DevOps
